Turn a clinic search into questions

QUESTION KIT / CHECK A LICENCE

Take the question at your own pace.

Who is responsible for your care?

You have found a person offering care. A name and a polished page are a starting point. Ask for the details you can check.

Ask who will treat you: a doctor or another person licensed to treat patients. Get their full name, job title and licence details.

Prepare for the assessment

CHECK / OPEN

Full name and job title

The relevant state board

The matching public record

Check the details against the record.

Use the public board record

State medical boards publish whether doctors hold a licence and what public action the board has taken against them.

The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), a group of state boards, offers a directory with links to the boards.

Find the medical board in the state where your care will take place. Use its own licence search and compare the record with the details given to you.

Some states have separate boards for different types of doctor, so a search on one board can miss another board's record.

If the person treating you is not a doctor, ask which board licenses someone with their job title. Use the board they identify.

Ask during the conversation

What is your full name and job title? Are you a doctor or another person licensed to treat patients?

Which board holds your licence record?

What name and licence details can I search?

For care by phone or video, your location matters

HHS (the Department of Health and Human Services in the US) says your health professional needs a licence or permission where you are and must follow licensing rules where they work. This guidance was checked in September 2026.

Telehealth connects you with care by video call, phone call or information exchanged online.

Some states let an out-of-state health professional register for telehealth instead of getting a full state licence, as checked in September 2026.

Tell the service the location from which you will attend the visit. Ask it to identify the permission that applies there.

Ask during the conversation

Are you licensed or otherwise authorised where I will be during the visit?

Read the result within its limits

A doctor's record that shows no public board action does not tell you how good that doctor is.

The licence of the person treating you does not give BPC-157 FDA approval. That licence also does not authorise a pharmacy to make medicine to order with BPC-157 under federal ingredient rules, as checked in September 2026.

Keep the licence result beside the product and evidence answers. Each addresses a different part of the decision.
